Don't be alarmed on Friday if you start hearing sirens going off across the City of Lubbock. As long as the weather is nice, Friday is when the sirens will be tested.

Outdoor Warning System to be Tested

According to a press release from the City of Lubbock, on Friday February 13, at around 9:30am, the City of Lubbock will test the Outdoor Warning System. The test will include 3 minutes of testing sirens.

City officials stress that this is only a test and has nothing to do with bad weather.

How Often Is The Outdoor Warning System Tested in Lubbock?

Actually, pretty often according to the press release.

The sirens will be tested monthly on the second Friday of the month. However, if the National Weather Service forecasts a ten percent (10%) chance or greater of a thunderstorm the day of the test, the OWS test will be canceled and not rescheduled.
