Lubbock Teen Dies in Crash Sunday

A teenage driver is dead and two other persons injured following an early-morning street crash in East Lubbock. Nineteen-year-old Antonio Martinez was pronounced dead at University Medical Center after yesterday’s accident around 2 a.m. in the 2500 block of East 50^th Street.Injured were 31-year-old Patricia Martinez and an 11-year-old girl.

Police say Martinez was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe which went out of control, was launched into the air hitting a curb, and hit a utility pole. Officers  believe Martinez had run a stop sign at high speed near the 3000 block of East 50^th.
