Lubbock Police are alerting the public to disregard emails that claim to be from a hit man. Authorities say a scammer has been sending bulk emails claiming to be a hit man hired to kill the recipient. If the recipient sends him a large amount of money, the scammer claims, he will spare their life and not tell his "boss." The scammer also claims he’s watching the recipient and knows their every move.

Below is an excerpt from a similar email sent in 2007:

"I am pleased to inform you that we have been paid to assassinate you by your co-worker in your office. I want you to listen very carefully about your safety and do not, i repeat, do not try in any way  doing anything funny in otherwords, trying to inform any security agent because this is our business, and we know how to do it best...I wait to hear from you on this matter within the next 24 hours and that is if you appreciate and love your existence. Please do not in anyway communicate this or discuss this with anybody because you woudln't know whom you are talking with. OUR WATCH-DOG ARE ON YOU. DO NOT MAKE ANY MISTAKE."

Investigators believe these emails are being sent in bulk from somewhere outside of the U.S. If the emails do not contain any personal information about you or your family, authorities suggest simply deleting them as they pose no real threat to you or your family's livelihood.

Authorities do say, however, if you receive an email containing personal details including the names of your family members, frequented locations, or your workplace, schedule ect. you should contact police immediately.
