A vehicle pursuit in Lubbock left one person dead this week.

According to the Lubbock Police Department, a motorcycle was seen running a red light at the intersection of 50th Street and Avenue Q shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 7th. A pursuit ensued after 30-year-old Torey Timmons, the driver of the motorcycle, fled from police at the scene.

After Lubbock police officers chased Timmons 31 blocks north, the pursuit was called off. Timmons was heading eastbound as he approached the access road to Marsha Sharp Freeway when he collided with a vehicle.

KAMC News reports that the motorcycle collided with a GMC pick-up truck driven by 55-year-old Jose Solorzano, along with his passengers 37-year-old Hipolito Sanchez-Valdez and an unnamed 15-year-old boy.

Solorzano was traveling south on Avenue Q before attempting to turn east onto the Marsha Sharp Freeway access road. Timmons ran another red light at the Marsha Sharp Freeway access road and proceeded to strike the GMC pick-up with the motorcycle.

Timmons was initially transported to University Medical Center for serious injuries, but died on June 8th. There was no update to the conditions of Solorzano, Sanchez-Valdez, and the 15-year-old boy after the collision. There's no reason yet as to why Timmons fled from police. The investigation is still ongoing.
