On Tuesday, Mar. 3, the Lubbock Police Department arrested three men for their involvement in causing a fatal car accident in January 2020.

The accident occurred just before 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 24th, in the 7500 block of Slide Road. Police allege 19-year-old Xavier Montalvo was racing when he hit a vehicle driven by 69-year-old Howard Wright, who was taken afterward to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

On Tuesday, Montalvo was arrested on warrants for racing on a highway causing death and manslaughter. 28-year-old Anthony Martin and 24-year-old Luis Salinas were also arrested on warrants for causing death due to racing. All three men are in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.

KAMC News reports the arrests were made as part of an investigation by the LPD's Major Crash Investigation Unit, the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
