Lubbock Martin Luther King Jr. Day Events 2015

There are a number events planned in Lubbock beginning Friday organized by the Martin Luther King Commemorative Council of Lubbock to honor the landmark civil rights activist.

The first event, the Individuals of Distinction Award Banquet, begins Friday, January 16, at the MCM Elegante Hotel and Suites located at 8th St. and Ave. Q. The event begins at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $30.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday is Youth Night at the Dunbar College Preparatory Academy. Sunday there will be a citywide service honoring Dr. King at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center beginning at 5 p.m.

Finally, a gospel night will be held at the Civic Center on Martin Luther King Jr. Day beginning at 6:30 p.m.
