Lubbock Man Dies After Wrecking Into a Tree on Idalou Highway Monday Afternoon

A Lubbock man is dead following a wreck on the Idalou Highway Monday afternoon.

51-year-old Bonner Smith slammed his black late-model Cadillac CTS into a tree on Highway 62/82 just after 3 p.m. today.

Paramedics worked for over half an hour to stabilize him at the scene.

Smith was pronounced dead at University Medical Center around an hour after the wreck. No one else was involved in the accident, and authorities are investigating the cause.
