A Lubbock ISD teacher has received a noteworthy award.

Aimee Ayers, a sixth-grade science teacher at O.L. Slaton Middle School, has been named as the Outstanding Middle School Science Teacher of the Year.

The honor comes from the Science Teachers Association of Texas.

STAT members across Texas made nominations for the award based upon the nominee’s creativity in the classroom, classroom management, and proper safety procedures.

“Ms. Ayers does an incredible job of planning and preparing outstanding and engaging lesions for her students,” said O.L. Slaton Principal Glen Teal. “But what sets her apart is her relentless determination to ensure her students succeed.”

STAT has more than 7,200 members.
