Do you think your child could be the next Steven Spielberg or George Lucas? Lubbock Independent School District (LISD) is hosting a science fiction movie trailer contest for grades 6 through 12.

LISD has partnered with Premiere Cinemas, FBT architects and the 501st Legion for the contest. Students can enter by producing a science fiction movie trailer for a fictitious movie of their creation.

The contest is open to all 6-12th graders on the South Plains. The winning trailer will be shown at Premiere Cinemas Lubbock before showings of the Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. The winning director will also receive a free private screening of the movie for their friends and family.

LISD-TV will also provide additional stock footage to all qualified individuals or teams to supplement original footage that they shoot.

Trailer entries must be at least one minute to two and a half minutes in length and must also be uploaded to a video server such as YouTube or Vimeo.

The deadline for all submissions is November 13, 2015. All rules for this contest are available at the Lubbock ISD website or by calling Kenneth Dixon, the LISD-TV general manager, at (806) 219-0012.
