Lubbockites that pay Lubbock ISD taxes won’t see a raise in their tax rate after a vote by the LISD Board of Trustees.

Today a combined rate of $1.235 per $100 valuation was passed by the board, the same rate as the past five years. The rate for general school operations has been set at $1.04 and bond debt service is $0.195. A budget of $185,022,173 was passed for 2011-2012. Lubbock ISD has the second lowest tax rate in Lubbock County.

The board recognized five elementary campuses that were honored by the Texas Education Agency Division. Guadalupe, Hardwick, Iles and Madgen Elementary Schools were named Distinguished Schools for Performance. Bowie Elementary School was named a Distinguished School for Progress.

Student athlete Madisyn Cox was also recognized during today’s meeting. The Lubbock High School junior won first place in the girls 200-yard Individual Medley in the state swimming competition, a first for an LISD swimmer. She was also named to the Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association list of All-American swimmers.
