Lubbock ISD School Board to Formally Approve Dunbar Middle School Name Change

The Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees will consider ratifying the name change of an area middle school.

They will consider giving formal consent to changing the name of Dunbar Middle School to Dunbar College Preparatory Academy.

The modification of a school name does not require board approval, particularly in cases where the primary name is unchanged.

Lubbock ISD says the name of the school has been modified to “align with the new expectations and the new culture that they are developing to improve student achievement and to prepare all students for college,” according to the meeting’s agenda.

The meeting will take place Thursday morning beginning at 7 a.m.
