Teachers and staff in Lubbock will soon see pay raise.

The Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees approved a salary increase for all LISD employees of a 2.8% average. A starting teacher salary will increase from the current $40,000 per year to $41,000 for the 2013-2014 school year.

New Superintendent Berhl Robertson said of the pay increases, "I am very pleased that we are in a position to provide this increase to our teachers and employees. Our new starting salary of $41,000 will help us attract the best teachers coming out of our local universities, and we know having a quality teacher in the classroom is integral to student success.”

The board also touched on the budget for next school year. State revenues to Lubbock ISD are expected to increase after the legislature increased funding from the previous two years. The budget is expected to be approved at their next meeting on June 27th.

Trustees also approved the hiring of David Beal as an assistant athletic director. Beal will replace Assistant AD David Harrison, who retires at the end of June.

Beal is currently the offensive coordinator for the Bryan High School football team and has previous athletic coordinator experience in Temple and Spring ISD’s and was the athletic director in Brenham.
