Wednesday on The Chad Hasty Show, Hasty talked about a recent news story detailing the 2020 crime statistics in the city of Lubbock, what the trends are, and how the city is counting on a positive influence of the new police substations, which are under construction and slated to begin opening later this year.

Many crime category numbers are down as a result of the nearly year-long restrictions put in place in response to the coronavirus crisis, and the fact that many people have been home far more than normal. But a huge increase in the number of homicides has the city concerned. "A one hundred and five percent increase in homicides, that is worrisome, and we'll see if that trend continues this year," Hasty said.
