Lubbock Fire Rescue Called to Incendiary Church Fire

At 2:04 p.m. Saturday afternoon, LFR units responded to 702 76th, Smithlawn Church of Christ for a reported structure fire.

Units arrived to find trash burning inside the building. The fire was quickly extinguished and the Fire Marshal's Office was called to investigate.

The FMO has ruled the fire as incendiary and the investigation is open.

The property has been the subject of prior vandalism and unreported fires since it was closed approximately three years ago.

A reporting party observed the suspects fleeing the scene on foot traveling south on Avenue F.
