Next week, the Texas Department of Public Safety will begin to reopen Driver License Offices in North and Northwest Texas. Driver License Offices will operate by appointment only and not every service will be available right away.

Citizens can begin to schedule appointments as soon as Friday, May 22, once the Texas DPS website updates at 1 p.m. The only services being provided relate to first-time drivers licences, CDL’s, learner licenses, and ID cards.

Renewal for expired DL’s won’t be available until later in the summer, but an extension for expired license has been put in place. The Lubbock Driver Licence Office will reopen Tuesday, May 26th, at 8 a.m. and close at 6 p.m.
