Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office Makes an Arrest in Kidnapping Case
Wednesday evening, the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office released additional information concerning an arrest they made in the case of a missing child.
Seven-year-old Addilynn Carter was reported missing on Tuesday afternoon. She was last seen at the intersection of CR 1150 and CR 6860 with Michael Luitjens (AKA Michael Hernandez), who was serving as her caretaker. Carter was safely recovered by Lubbock County sheriff's deputies on Wednesday morning at a residence in the 2600 block of Baylor Street.
At the same time Carter was recovered, deputies also arrested Luitjens.
The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office had received a tip regarding Carter's whereabouts some time late Tuesday, or early Wednesday, and that's how they were able to locate both Carter and Luitjens.
Luitjens was arrested and charged with one count of Kidnapping. He also had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest in Terry County on a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
As of Wednesday evening, Luitjens was in custody at the Lubbock County Detention Center. Additional charges may be filed against him as authorities continue their investigation into the kidnapping case.
