Two Lubbock City Councilmembers will hold a meeting with TxDOT representatives later this month.

District 1 Councilman Victor Hernandez and District 2 Councilman Floyd Price are inviting the public to a meeting regarding proposed safety improvements at certain locations along Avenue Q between 19th and 50th Streets.

The improvements will be new medians in areas along Avenue Q.

Hernandez said “Councilman Price and I are hosting this public meeting because the suggested medians could affect public access to businesses and homes adjacent to Avenue Q. It is very important, to both of us, to balance pedestrian and vehicular safety needs with the need to have Avenue Q remain economically viable.”

Price weighed in as well, saying “This is a good opportunity for businesses, homeowners, and the general public to see the proposed changes to Avenue Q and provide feedback to TxDOT.”

The public meeting will take place on Monday, March 24th, from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at O.L. Slaton Middle School, located at 32nd Street and Avenue Q.
