This week at their regularly scheduled meeting, the Lubbock City Council will consider a resolution to purchase equipment for the Lubbock Fire Department and another to consolidate rental car facilities adjacent to the Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport.

The council will discuss executing a contract with Demattei Wong Architecture, Inc. for consulting services. They will detail ways to consolidate parking, washing and fueling facilities into one large structure as well as upping parking space from 154 to upwards of 400 spaces. The council purchased the Airport Shelter Park property at after a previous meeting.

Council members will also discuss purchasing two ladder trucks, a 101-foot aerial platform truck and a 78-foot ladder truck, from Daco Fire Safety Equipment. The purchase is valued at $1.7 million.

Other items include zoning changes, land annexations and multiple board appointments.

The Lubbock City Council will meet on Thursday, January 22 beginning at 5:15 p.m.
