An area university will present a band concert next week.

Lubbock Christian University’s Symphonic Band will perform the concert titled “Heroes and Villians,” on Thursday, April 10th at 7:30 p.m. in the McDonald Moody Auditorium.

Andrew Babcock, director of bands, says that he usually programs a lighter concert for the spring semester, and as he searched for music, he noticed the theme of good versus evil, which ultimately guided his selection.

“There is something at this concert for everyone,” said Babcock. “Some of the literature is quite sophisticated and some of it will have you humming the melodies.”

Babcock says that he hopes that fall rehearsals can take place in the new band hall that is currently under construction.

Since the LCU Symphonic Band began five years ago, it has grown in interest and number, and donations to support the ongoing construction of the new band hall will be accepted at Thursday’s concert.
