10 Lubbock county parents have been arrested by Lubbock authorities for not paying child support. The sweep conducted by County Sheriff Kelly Rowe started at 2pm yesterday when three teams were dispatched to locate and arrest parents who broke the law by not providing for their children. Teams worked overnight to make the arrests.

Each delinquent parent faces up to six months in jail. Cash bonds posted by the arrested are given to the custodial parent and children who are owed child support. If you have outstanding warrants, you can avoid arrest by contacting the Warrant Division of the Lubbock county Sheriff’s Office at 775-1493. If you are behind on child support payments but do not yet have warrants, immediately contact the Attorney General’s Child support Division at (800) 252-8014 to arrange payments.

Statewide, child support collected by the Office of the Attorney General exceeded $2.9 billion for the state fiscal year that ended Aug. 31, 2010. The Attorney General’s Lubbock County child support offices collected $61 million of that amount.
