Lubbock And Areas Of The South/Rolling Plains Brace For Ice

If you thought the potential for winter weather was over, sorry it appears we aren't anywhere close to being done with winter. Lubbock, along with the surrounding areas of the South Plains is under a Winter Weather Advisory beginning at Midnight.
Meanwhile the Rolling Plains will be under an Ice Storm Warning beginning at Midnight. Spur, Guthrie, Jayton, and Aspermont are all under the Ice Storm Warning. But that area could be expanded as we get into the day on Wednesday as temperatures will be in the upper 20's low 30's and frozen precipitation is expected throughout the day on Wednesday and into Thursday morning.
The best thing to do when icing is occurring is to just stay home if possible. There have been hundreds of accidents across the state the last couple of days due to ice on the roads. If you must travel, plan accordingly. Slow down and know it will take extra time to get to your destination. Also, look at maps and see where roads are closed.
KFYO will have you covered as more winter weather moves into the area both on air and online.
