Lone Wolf Express (5702 19th St) is the stuff of legends in Lubbock. It was one of the first 24 hour restaurants in Lubbock and the only Mexican restaurant in town with very extended hours that I'm aware of.

Basically, if you grew up in Lubbock and needed to get something in your belly to soak up the booze, Lone Wolf was there to heal you that night -- or for the hangover the next day.

The prices were a crazy bargain, too. And who could forget the old video game cabinets and quarter vending machines?

Apparently, it's the end of that era for Lone Wolf Express. A sign on the restaurant's door reads: "Closed for construction. Under new management and new restaurant."

No word yet if the new place will serve incredibly cheap tacos at 3 a.m.
