Despite recent controversy painting the Confederate flag to be a taboo symbol of our nation's history, one particular Lubbock organization is having none of it.

In fact, the Lubbock Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans still plan on flying the Confederate flag while they march down Broadway in this years 4th of July Parade.

Commander Michael Walker told KAMC News "I am an American soldier. I fought for my country. My confederate ancestor was a confederate soldier and he fought for his beliefs...I'm proud of what they did. They fought for beliefs, they fought for their families, they fought for their faith and they fought for the land that they lived on."

Walker says, the Sons of Confederate Veterans are not looking to start riots or incite racist behavior, but rather to honor their ancestors who fought in the Civil War.
