95.1 FM and 790 AM KFYO is one of six radio stations in Lubbock, TX, owned by Townsquare Media. Working at one of these stations automatically includes you in the Townsquare Lubbock family which means you always have someone to talk to, whether they’re on the phone or down the hall. 

KFYO Open Position Details

This is a PART TIME position that offers extensive involvement in commercial radio, from board operation and news anchoring to audio editing and full-scale production on syndicated programs. 

Pay for this position is to be determined based on qualification and other considerations of applicants.

Applicants must be over the age of 18 and must have received a high school diploma or a GED equivalent. A degree in journalism and/or communication is preferred

Key duties of this position include the following:

  • Gathering local/statewide news stories that impact Lubbock and the State of Texas to write and record on-air news segments
  • Assisting with KFYO’s social media team in crafting timely and effective alerts/stories/posts
  • Producing local live programs from the KFYO studio weekdays and/or weekends
  • Assist with production during severe weather (Maintaining contact with local meteorologist, ensuring severe weather updates air, consistently monitoring local weather maps/radars)
  • Board operation during high school sports games AND station remote broadcasts
  • Get to know the on-air talent on KFYO and collaborate with idea generation to further improve quality and maintain reliability as the News and Talk of West Texas
