Raider Red Meats will be hosting a Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) nationally-sanctioned cook-off at the end of August.

Owner and proprietor of Raider Red Meats Tate Corliss joined Lubbock's First News on Monday to talk about the event.

"We're really excited to host this great event," said Corliss. "It'll be the first ever KCBS mention BBQ cook-off in Lubbock and it's also going to be the first SCA (Steak Cook-off Association) cook-off in Lubbock, so that's really exciting to have two firsts."

The cook-off will be held on Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29 on the Texas Tech University campus. Contestants can register early online with Raider Red Meats for both events.

On-site registration will be available beginning on Friday, August 28 at noon for the KCBS cook-off and on Saturday, August 29 registration for only the SCA cook-off will begin at 9 a.m.
