Wednesday on The Chad Hasty Show Jeremy Dys, Senior Counsel to First Liberty Institute and General Counsel to the Family Policy Council of West Virginia, joined the show to talk about First Amendment freedoms in the news.

Dys and Hasty discussed the case of the owners of an Oregon cake shop Sweetcakes by Melissa who were fined $135,000 for refusing, based on religious beliefs, to cater for the wedding of same-sex weddings.

While describing the bottom lines of the issue, Dys said,

The state really cannot force it's citizens to create a government sponsored message. That's what this case is about...Whether the government is going to be permitted to force it's citizens to create and carry a government sponsored, a government approved message.
