Want To Know What Color Suits You? Here’s How West Texas
Most of the time in Lubbock we are way behind when it comes to things trending and popular. This is not one of those times.
If you have been on social media, especially Instagram and TikTok you probably have heard about finding your color. This is actually something that is not new but man are people going crazy for it.
There are ways to try and figure it out online or on your phone but it is not the same. I have thought this whole time I was a spring or summer because that is what it looks like online but that is actually not the case. When you use your phone or pictures to try and find out your colors it doesn't show your true colors and will give you the wrong answers.
I went to see Michele Good with House of Colour Lubbock to find out from a professional what my real colors are. House of Colour actually started back in the 1980s in the UK. They came up with the basic four-season system to figure out what colors you look best in.
It got big and they came to the United States in 2010. This system is trained to the highest standards here in the USA.
Surprisingly we have a consultant right here in Lubbock. Her name is Michele Good and man did we have a lot of fun.
"I decided to bring House of Colour to Lubbock and surrounding areas when I saw how much of a difference the knowledge I learned during my consultations was making in my life. My life runs so much smoother, from getting ready in the mornings to shopping at a local boutique or large store. I also knew that the people of Lubbock would appreciate the opportunity to learn if Raider Red was really their best red. *Hint it is the one color we can all wear confidently," said Good.
So I came to her house and she explained to me how everything works. You can either be a spring, summer, winter or autumn. She will have you sit in natural light and try to figure out what colors make your face and skin-pop, along with smoother and slim.
We found out I was a winter. Michele was shocked because from pictures and online she was guessing I was a summer so that is why it is so important to do it in person.
"In today's modern age, it’s easy to see something you love online or someone else and purchase it. Unfortunately, there are times when you get it home and you don’t feel 100% in it. If this has happened to you, then you should come to spend the afternoon at my studio. You will gain confidence in yourself, and learn how to make shopping and putting together outfits a breeze!"
After she figures out your season she puts on makeup for you to show what colors are best for your face to make it pop, slimmer, and just your best self. These are called your wow colors, below are mine.
Then she will give you a booklet of everything you need to know. It will tell you what colors you can wear, where to wear them and so much more. I loved how it even explained to me what jewelry and makeup colors to wear. I was shocked to find out I need to be wearing silver.
This is what one of her clients says: “my life has gotten exponentially better after having both my colors and style done. Getting ready in the morning and knowing everything goes together cohesively is the most satisfying feeling. Having a capsule wardrobe has also made traveling easier and saves some money on those overweight bag fees.”
Here is her before and after picture.
If you are a man it is actually really good for you as well. This can help with dates, job interviews, or day-to-day seeming more personable. She actually sees a lot of men and they really see a big change.
One of her male clients said, “I appreciate the clear directive of what works best for me. The benefit of having a collection of clothes that mix-n-match to create ease and countless options is what attracted me to the concept. The added benefit of appearing more approachable is an important attribute for us all.”
Michele says she has also done stuff for people's weddings to make sure they look their best and have the right colors.
