The Texas Department of Transportation is looking to create a more efficient travel system for the unique needs of the Lubbock area.

The survey will provide data about local travel patterns and assist TxDOT in deciding which transportation projects will enhance Lubbock’s transportation network.

These surveys provide information about local travel patterns and needs. They help TxDOT and local transportation modelers make decisions about transportation projects that impact you and your community.

There are two different surveys you can take, household and students.

According to their website, "Household Travel Surveys help determine the amount of travel generated in an area by local residents. Participants use a smartphone app, website or other methods to record where, when, how and why they travel."

You will be asked to provide information about your household, household members, and vehicles. After that, they will want information on a travel diary of where you went on a certain date.

For students, if you fill out the survey you will get a $20 Visa e-card. Any current full or part-time students at Texas Tech are eligible. The survey could take anywhere from 5 minutes or up to 15 minutes to complete and will be anonymous.
