United Supermarkets Teams Up With Cheez-It To Boost Local Classrooms
United Supermarkets and Cheez-It are partnering to bring $10,000 directly to South Plains classrooms as part of the College Football Playoff Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers initiative. The check presentation takes place Wednesday afternoon at the United Supermarkets at 11310 Slide Road, with local educators front and center, right where they belong.
A Win for Lubbock Classrooms

This is not a symbolic gesture. It’s funding that goes straight into Lubbock-area classrooms to help students stay engaged, learn more effectively, and get excited about school.
What Is Extra Yard for Teachers?
The Extra Yard for Teachers initiative is led by the College Football Playoff Foundation, the largest sports-based organization in the country focused on empowering educators
The program recognizes teachers who go above and beyond--those who create excitement around learning and make a real difference in students’ lives. Through partnerships with United Supermarkets, Kellanova, and Cheez-It, that mission lands directly in Lubbock.
A Lubbock-Based Company Giving Back
United Supermarkets isn’t just a sponsor--it’s part of the community! Headquartered in Lubbock, The United Family has served Texas and New Mexico communities for more than a century.
Supporting local teachers fits naturally with a company rooted in West Texas. When national brands team up with Lubbock-based businesses, the impact stays right here at home.
A Moment Worth Celebrating
The event includes brief remarks, a check presentation, and a photo opportunity with educators from across the area. It’s a simple moment, but an important one--recognizing teachers and backing that appreciation with real support.
