The official start of fall is only days away, and Texans everywhere are excited for summer to finally pass.

Here in Lubbock, we’ve been teased with some lovely fall-like weather over the past week, but things are going to warm back up a bit as we head into the official start of fall on September 23rd, 2023. Despite the oncoming 90-degree days, we are still kicking off the fall festivities strong with some classic Hub City autumn activities. One of which being a lovely field day and plant sale at the Texas Tech Greenhouse and Horticultural Gardens.

This 5-hour event starts at 9:00 a.m. and runs until 2:00 p.m. The garden will be open to explore, take photos, and admire all of the beautiful plants. You can also ask the greenhouse staff any horticulture questions, vote for your favorite plants, and buy something for your garden or in your home.

Due to it being late in the season, they have a smaller selection of plants compared to their spring sale, but there are still a variety of great options including annuals, perennials, succulents, house plants, and more.

The garden looks beautifully lush, and the weather should be great that morning for walking around and enjoying all of the plants. Based on the photos they posted on Facebook, it looks like they have a great variety of plants for sale including some herbs like rosemary and sage that would be great to grow and use while cooking.
