Lubbock Last-Minute Plans: Dancing, Pancakes, and the Theatre
It looks like things should be warming up this weekend, making it a great time to get out of the house and check out what Lubbock has to offer.
Friday:
Starting this Friday, February 17th, there are two shows going on all weekend long. The first is The Cake at the Lubbock Community Center. The other is Nunsence presented by CATS Playhouse. Both of these shows will be running Friday, Saturday and Sunday this week.
There will also be a gala on Friday called ‘If Music Be the Food of Love’. This takes place at the Frazier Alumni Pavilion from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
Saturday:
Saturday is when the fun really starts with the 71st Annual Pancake Festival. This is a great way to stuff your face and support a great cause at the same time. It is hosted by the Lubbock Lions Club and is the largest pancake festival in the world that supports local charities. It will be held at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center on February 18th from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
There will also be a ‘home builders mini-camp' hosted by UBuilt’s at their main offices this Saturday. It is an opportunity to learn more about building your own home and have any questions answered. This will be going on from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
After stuffing your face and learning how to build a home, you can have some fun this Saturday by learning how to dance the Cha Cha. Social Dance Lubbock hosts classes at the YWCA Sun ‘n Fun twice a month, and they are teaching Cha Cha for February. The lesson starts at 6:00 and is followed by a dance party to practice your moves.
Sunday:
Sunday is a calm day here in the Hub City, but you can still catch one of those shows, or spend the day at home with friends and family. With the current forecast, it might be a great chance to whip out the barbeque and enjoy some time outside.
