Lubbock is One Step Closer to Getting Its Very Own Cat Café
We’ve seen a large variety of businesses come and go in Lubbock over the past few years. From restaurants to boutiques, the Hub City is constantly growing. One type of business that we have yet to see in Lubbock, but many people have been wanting, is a cat café.
If you aren’t familiar, this is a popular concept for a café that originated in Taiwan and was popularized in Japan. When you visit, there are cats that freely roam around the establishment, allowing you to interact with them while enjoying food and drinks.
Some cafes have permanent cat residents that call that café their home, but other’s aim to have adoptable cats that guests can meet and potentially bring home if it is the right fit.
These cafes have made their way to the United States and now we are potentially getting our very own location in Lubbock.
Neko Chan Cat Café is the name, and they are looking to be located at 82nd and Indiana in Melonie Park Square. They recently had a zoning change approved by the city, so they are one step closer to making this dream a reality.
They are now asking for support from the Lubbock community by attending the City Council meeting on Dec 5th, 2023, to support the concept of the business. If you are unable to attend, you can also write a letter to the city that expresses your interest in the café.
