Last-Minute Plans: Fun for the Whole Family on Dec. 9 & 10, 2022
With an overcast and chilly Friday evening, what is there to do? Well, bundle up and get the whole family in the car, because on of Lubbock favorite annual events is happening this weekend.
Candlelight at the Ranch is a Lubbock tradition that only happens for two nights each year. This means that you have to take advantage of it while it’s here so you don’t miss out. This is the 44th year the event as gone on, and it is only tonight, December 9, and tomorrow December 10 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
The event takes place at the National Ranching Heritage Center and is a great way to learn more about West Texas’ history. It is a free event (donations accepted) where you get to see a variety of historical structures led by a candlelight path. Within 15 of these structures, there will be volunteers dressed up to match the time period the structure comes from, reenacting what took place within them. Kids can write a letter to Santa, you can buy refreshments, and you can enjoy everything this event has to offer on two beautiful West Texas evenings.
If you are looking for somewhere to grab dinner before the event, I suggest looking around campus for options. You could hit up Spanky’s for some fried cheese, or One Guy From Italy for a slice of pizza.
