I am a little bit shocked to learn just how high Lubbock ranked on a recent list of "2023's Best Cities For Pizza Lovers". It's not that we don't have good pizza here. We definitely do. But, Lubbock isn't exactly known for its pizza. Chicken fried steak and barbeque are usually what you think of being popular around here, so our rank is pretty astounding.

The ranking was developed by Lawnstarter based on things like highly rated pizza vendors, award-winning pizzerias, affordability, and popularity.

For starters and to put it into perspective, New York, of course, ranks #1 on the list. Duh. It doesn't take much to put those two together. New York and pizza are like peanut butter and jelly. The first thing most of us do when we hop off of a plane in the Big Apple is to go and hunt down a slice of that cheesy goodness.

Coming in last on the list, is Hayward, California, at #200. I don't have anything clever to say about Hayward. I honestly didn't know that city even existed until a few minutes ago. Now that I know they have extra cruddy pizza, I'll be sure to never visit...

So, where does Lubbock rank compared to the top 200 biggest cities in the United States?

Lubbock surprisingly comes in at #30 on the list of 2023's Best Cities For Pizza Lovers! Can you believe it? We even beat Austin, who came in at #34, Dallas, at #45, and San Antonio, at #69. That pretty much blows my mind. They have dozens more pizza restaurants and we still kicked their butts.

I'm going to go ahead and give some credit to MY favorite pizza restaurants in the Hub City: One Guy From Italy Family Restaurant, Dario's Pizza & Calzones, and DoubleDave's Pizzaworks. I could pretty much eat from one of those three every single day and never get tired of them.
