So what do you do, with that doggie doo-doo?

Believe it or not, not dealing with your dog's poop could cost you big. It's not just if your dog poops in the road while you're on a walk, it's also your backyard.

How terrible would it be if code enforcement got you for not picking up your doggie doo? After all, it's your backyard, and it's outside, and it's "kinda" fertilizer, right?  Well, you can try to justify it all day, but you could find yourself with a big fine.

Of course, no one wants to fine you or take you to court over your animal's dirty business. Let's look at the reality though, your neighbors don't want that stink in the wind when they're barbequing in their backyards, and absolutely NO ONE wants to live next door to a breeding ground for flies.

So the answer is YES. You can be hit with a $500 fine and that's just for having a nasty backyard. There are other fines and charges available to authorities if your dog is dropping a deuce on a public sidewalk.  Again, I don't think anyone wants to take you to poop court, so get a shovel and get to work. Now, what do you do with your collection?

The recommendation is to put it in a plastic bag and throw it in the trash. You can also flush it (which would be incredibly awkward to do). Believe it or not, the most common way people handle this problem, by burying it, is actually not recommended. What is in the soil eventually makes it into the water.

Happy scoopin' my friends!
