A new season has arrived in Lubbock and across America, it's officially Pumpkin Spice season. I know what you are thinking. It's going to be 96 degrees in Lubbock on Tuesday and summer isn't over yet. You are correct, but that doesn't matter as the makers of Pumpkin Spice... everything have determined that now is the perfect time to launch Pumpkin Spice everything.

It started last week when Dunkin announced that mid-August was the perfect time to start selling their version of pumpkin spiced coffee around the nation. Then this weekend I was at Market Street and saw them. Boxes of Pumpkin Spice Cheerios. They had just rolled the new limited edition box of cereal and already people were picking up boxes to take home.

We used to think of pumpkin flavored stuff as something you'd see in the Fall, not when the fall semester of college kicked off on day one. But here we are, the unofficial start of fall, Pumpkin Spice season.

Now, for you lovers of everything Pumpkin Spice, I know what you are thinking. I've only pointed to two Pumpkin Spice products. This can't possibly mean that it's Pumpkin Spice season. Even I thought I was jumping the gun. That is until I saw the news in Monday's USA Today.

Starting Tuesday, Starbucks, the company that is pretty much responsible for Pumpkin Spice everything, will be selling Pumpkin Spice Lattes and Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew. They will also roll out their fall menu.

Pumpkin Spice season is here. Soon we will see Pumpkin Spice Oreos, Pumpkin Spice chips, Pumpkin Spice cookies, Pumpkin Spice candles, Pumpkin Spice car fragrance, Pumpkin Spice soap, and more.

I've got to hand it to the different companies out there. They know anything labeled "Pumpkin Spice" will sell, and it does. Maybe Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson should re-name their COVID vaccines "Pumpkin Spice COVID-19 Vaccine". I bet you'd see people show up for that.

Goodbye summer. Hello Pumpkin Spice season. It's still hot outside here in Lubbock, but people are ready for fall and for everything to taste like pumpkin.

The good news? Pumpkin and Oktoberfest Beer season isn't far behind Pumpkin Spice season.
