Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Chicken Fried Steak Day might be the three best days for us here in Texas. If you are wondering, yes Chicken Fried Steak Day is real and should be celebrated. According to the Abilene Reporter News, it was a lawmaker from Temple that brought us this grand day.

House Resolution 1419 was sponsored by state Rep. Ralph Sheffield of Temple at the behest of Jeffrey Yarbrough, a former restaurateur and CEO of bigInk, a Dallas-based PR and marketing firm specializing in the hospitality industry.

"No one does chicken-fried like Texans; it's about time we celebrate the soul food of our state — chicken-fried steak," Yarbrough said in a statement.

It's true. Texans love Chicken Fried Steak and the bigger, the better. The Chicken Fried Steak might have started off as more of a breakfast food, but now it's a staple of dinner menus across the state. You can read more about the history of one our favorite foods here.
