The big game is happening this weekend and that means smokers and grills will be fired up (where the weather permits) and people will be preparing great food to eat before, during, and after the game.

A couple of years ago, Steve Evans, who you hear on KFYO Sunday's Noon to 2 p.m. on Reason, Religion, and Reality, was guest hosting The Chad Hasty Show while I was out of town and he brought up a recipe that the KFYO audience went crazy for.

As someone who has had this smoked queso before, I can tell you it is fantastic and it makes a lot. So if you do make this, you will be much appreciated at your big game get together.

Get your smoker's ready and a big bag of chips, here is, what I believe to be the ultimate smoked queso recipe from Steve Evans.

Steve Evans' Smoked Queso

1lb of American cheese-cubed

1lb of your desired meat bacon, sausage, ground beef, or brisket (precooked)

2 cups of diced tomatoes

8 ounces of diced green chilis

1 cup of chopped onions

2 packages of cream cheese- cubed

Put all ingredients, except the cream cheese, in a foil roasting pan.

Place in smoker at 185-250.

Smoke for about an hour until the cheese melts

Stir the mixture and add the cream cheese.

Place back in the smoker for about 20 minutes until the cream cheese is melted.

Stir and enjoy.

Former producer of the The Chad Hasty Show, Jody Smyers put his twist on the recipe by adding a few more peppers and garlic.

Try it out this weekend and enjoy.
