Infested: This Texas City Is Crawling With Bed Bugs
Bed bugs can be found in just about any city in Texas. But some cities are more prone and I guess you could say, more hospitable to bed bugs than others. And unfortunately for one major Texas city, the bed bug problem is so bad, they rank as one of the worst places for bed bugs in America.
According to a recent study done by Pest Gnome and reported on by KXAN, the city of Houston is one of the worst cities in America for bed bugs. Pest Gnome ranked the 500 largest cities in America in three categories, infestation risk, pest control, and urban density.

When Pest Gnome ran all their numbers, Houston ranked as the 3rd worst city behind New York City and Los Angeles for bed bug infestation risks. According to KXAN, Houston's average Google searches for bed bugs for the past year was 31,770. That's a lot and ranked as the third highest.
Pest Gnome says the city’s ranking reflects the fact that Houston has at least 54 used furniture stores (the second highest number in the U.S.) and a high number of accommodations (Houston was found to have 881 temporary lodgings, the third highest in the U.S.).
KXAN also reported that warm, humid areas are ideal climates for bed bugs. I don't know about you, but when I think of Houston, I do think of warm and humid weather.
There were other Texas cities that made it out of the top 10 list, which is actually good in this case. Dallas came in at 11, San Antonio was 16th, Fort Worth was 37th, and Irving was 54th. All other Texas locations were outside the top 100.
