The Lubbock Police Department is investigating the death of a 5-day-old infant on Sunday, September 15th.

KAMC News reports that officers were called to the 7000 block of Avenue S at around 5:30 a.m. According to an LPD news release, officers responded to a call to assist EMS personnel who were already at the scene. The initial call was about a baby not breathing.

The baby was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS, and an investigation is now underway. The cause of death has yet to be released, but police noted that it does not seem suspicious.
