If you're an avid Internet Explorer user and turned on your computer today only to notice that the icon was missing wasn’t working, there's good reason for that.

As of today, June 15th, 2022, Internet Explorer is no longer supported by Microsoft. What does this mean? To put it simply, you can no longer use it as your browser. Rather, Microsoft is encouraging former IE users to start using Microsoft Edge instead.

In reality, Internet Explorer was an incredibly outdated browser that wasn’t even close to being the best one out there. There are so many other options that have better layouts and privacy compared to the now-retired browser. Fortunately, Microsoft Edge is an even better browser than Internet Explorer, while retaining the feel many people are used to. There's even an "IE mode" available so the layout feels even more like what you're already comfortable with.

If you're taking this change as a sign to completely mix up what browser you use, some of the most popular are Google Chrome, Firefox and Opera. I personally use Google Chrome, but it's always a good idea to have more than one browser available on your computer even if you only use one most of the time.

If you want to learn more about Microsoft Edge, you can find information on Microsoft’s official website. You can also read more on why the company decided to retire the 27-year-old browser with this article from The Verge.
