When you're a burger chain, how do you deal with complaints that your burgers are increasing obesity and ruining sustainability? You could meekly offer some healthier options, but that may not be good enough. Here's an idea: tell your customers not to order the hamburgers.

Swedish hamburger chain Max Burgers is encouraging their customers to not order hamburgers as part of a measure to decrease their dependency on beef. The company has added numerous, non-beef options to their menus (like chicken, fish, etc) and have started prominently displaying the company's carbon footprint in their stores.

I think there's something to be admired here. This company isn't just saying they have healthy food; they're actually making an effort to encourage their customers to eat healthier. And who knows? This new business strategy may work for these guys.

But how well do you think this would work in America? I can't imagine walking into a Burger King and having them tell me, "Hey, you shouldn't order a Whopper." Personally, I would like to see this kind of corporate responsibility make its way to America, but I doubt it would work out too well here.
