Gun Sales Aren’t Slowing Down In America
If you bought a gun in January, you joined millions of other Americans who are purchasing firearms at a blistering pace throughout the nation.
According to FOX News, the FBI conducted more than 4.3 million background checks on individuals purchasing guns in January of 2021. If you think that is a lot, you are correct. That is the highest number of checks completed in a single month in the history of the agency.
It was a long running joke that former President Barack Obama was the employee of the month for the gun stores due to the amount of guns sold during his Presidency. According to FOX News, Biden's first month in office saw the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System complete over 4.3 million background checks.
The FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) completed 4,317,804 total background checks in January of this year, marking the start of 2021 with the highest number of checks conducted in a one-month period, according to agency data. Excluding federal-level checks, such as those conducted for federal law enforcement agents, the bureau conducted 4,288,240 state-level background checks, said Small Arms Analytics and Forecasting Chief Economist Jurgen Brauer.
The same article from FOX News claims that 2.2 million guns were sold in January of 2021, which would be a 79% increase since January of 2020.
We are continuing to see strong sales in Lubbock too as gun stores like SS Outfitters near Levelland are consistently selling firearms to new and returning customers. Sky Stracener who joined The Chad Hasty Show last Friday told KFYO that it has been hard keeping the shelves full of the most popular firearms. Ammunition also continues to be hard to find across Lubbock and the nation.
