Texas Tech will break ground on its non-denominational, privately-funded university chapel on Tuesday, May 24th. The groundbreaking will take place at 10 AM on the Texas Tech campus at 17th and University, east of the Merket Alumni Center.

Members of the Board of Regents, Chancellor Kent Hance and other guests will make brief remarks prior to the groundbreaking. Construction of the facility was approved at the February Board of Regents meeting in San Angelo and official naming of the chapel was approved at the May Board of Regents meeting.

The facility is projected to be completed in June 2012. Upon its completion, Texas Tech will be the tenth university in the Big 12 conference to have a chapel on campus.
