On Tuesday's edition of Lubbock's First News, GOP strategist and founder of MustReadTexas.com Matt Mackowiak talked with Chad Hasty and Rex Andrew about today's GOP primaries taking place all over the U.S.

Mackowiak said that if Mitt Romney wins most of the primaries tonight, the race could effectively be over.

I want a strong conservative to be our nominee, but I'm increasingly convinced that Santorum and Gingirch can't get there. I think we may be getting to the point where the party's going to unite behind Romney.

He predicts that Romney will win 4 or 5 of the states up for grabs tonight, including Ohio, while Santorum could win 2 or 3 states, and Gingrich will most likely win his home state of Georgia.

While Romney is not his preferred candidate, Mackowiak said that Romney has the best chance right now of becoming the nominee. Mackowiak said that there is still a possibility Gingrich could make a comeback if Santorum were to drop out, but that is very unlikely.
