GOP Strategist Matt Mackowiak Says Country Seemingly Moving Towards Accepting Gay Marriage [AUDIO]

On the Monday edition of The Chad Hasty Show, GOP strategist and co-founder of MustReadTexas.com Matt Mackowiak talked with Chad Hasty about the latest going on nationally and statewide.

Gay marriage is back in the spotlight this week as the Supreme Court looks at 2 cases, one involving Proposition 8 in California, and the other involving the Defense of Marriage Act. Mackowiak noted that the Republican party, and the country as whole, seems to be moving more towards accepting gay marriage, using the excuse that it should be a state's decision. However, he added that not all the Republicans are moving in that direction.

"The rub here is that the social conservatives in the party are not moving in that direction. There's a pretty sharp divide on that particular issue. What I think is more likely to happen, rather than having a Republican nominee who is pro-gay marriage, is that they're going to have the view that it's a state issue. Let the states decide, essentially."

There has also been a trend in the Republican party, particularly with the younger representatives like Rand Paul, advocating more libertarian views. Mackowiak said that the party embracing some more libertarian views could be a good thing and could bring the gap between the two parties and the voters. Mackowiak also shared his thoughts on up-and-coming George P. Bush.
