On the Monday edition of The Chad Hasty Show, Matt Mackowiak, GOP strategist and co-founder of MustReadTexas.com, spoke with Chad Hasty about the latest state and national news.

With early voting for the state runoff elections approaching, Mackoiwak shared his thoughts on some of the hotly contested races. He predicted that overall, a smaller, more conservative group would turn out to the polls this time, which will be beneficial for whichever candidate can prove they are the most conservative.

In the Attorney General's race, Mackowiak said that Ken Paxton was clearly shaken by his recent ethics issues. But despite that, Paxton still appears to be the frontrunner. And in the Lieutenant Governor's race, Mackoiwak said it's been a very back-and-forth race between David Dewhurst and Dan Patrick, with Dewhurst in particular running a very negative campaign against Patrick. But he added that both Patrick and Paxton seem to have the more motivated fan base at this point.

Matt Mackowiak appears every Monday morning at 9:35 during The Chad Hasty Show. You can also follow Mackowiak on Twitter: @MattMackowiak.
