On the Monday edition of the Chad Hasty Show, GOP strategist and co-founder of MustReadTexas.com Matt Mackowiak joined Chad Hasty to talk about the latest statewide and national issues.

Over the weekend,Presdient Obama commented on the tragic elementary school shooting in Connecticut. Mackowiak said that, while most of Obama's comments were fine, he thought that Obama's implying of gun control was highly inappropriate.

But there was another big story this weekend at Speaker of the House John Boehner essentially "caved in" and offered to extend the debt limit for another year.,as well as raise tax rates. Mackowiak was disappointed that Boehner started to waver, and said that Republicans should have left the debt limit alone and just focused on finding spending cuts instead of pandering to the Democrats.

"It seems like [Boehner's] offering a lot. The question is, are Republican house members going to vote with him, and what is he getting in return? We haven't heard really anything specific about cuts, about entitlement reform, about tax reforms. So I'm a little bit discouraged."

Mackowiak predicted that there would be lots of Republicans that would vote against this measure, but the question is whether or not enough Democrats will against it as well.
