You never know what you will see when you visit the beach. From random objects that wash up on the beach to fish you've never seen before, a normal day at the beach can always turn into an adventure.
This week, one beach goer in Texas found a giant star fish washed up on the beach.
According to the Houston Chronicle, Christina Biery took to Facebook to post pictures and video of a starfish she found in Port Aransas on Wednesday. According to the Chronicle, when she came upon the starfish, its arms were in the air not touching the sand. The Houston Chronicle reported that the Texas Parks and Wildlife identified it as a gray sea star.
A science director for Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's Coast Fisheries Division identified it as a gray sea star, according to Chron.
A video she posted also shows the starfish on the move, with a close-up angle showing the starfish’s tube feet on its underside moving as the starfish crawls across the beach. An adult starfish can move about 3 feet per minute, according to the National Ocean Service.
Apparently, starfish, also known as sea stars live in shallow water and can grow up to have a 1 foot arm span. You can see video of the starfish below.
