The Hispanic Association of Women, along with Liggett Law Group, will be holding their 16th annual scholarship gala on May 7th, 2022 at the Texas Tech Frazier Alumni Pavilion.

The Hispanic Association of Women has a mission of empowering women and promoting higher education since they started back in 1983. It's 100 percent volunteer membership and is open to anyone who's seeking a higher purpose and opportunities to serve.

Last year's gala raised more than $100,000 and gave out 105 $1,000 scholarships to local-area high school graduates and current college students. This year they've raised the goal and increased the scholarship amount to $2,000 per recipient.

This year's "Let's Get Down & Derby" scholarship gala will include cocktails, dinner, and live music by the Legal Limit Band. All sponsorship by local businesses and donors are used in their entirety to award scholarships for local women to attend colleges of their choice. They will have 6:30 p.m. cocktails on the patio, 7 p.m. dinner in the pavilion, and 8 p.m. entertainment on the rooftop.

The Hispanic Association of Women is a non-profit that promotes women and youth empowerment and educational opportunities for all women. Visit the Hispanic Association of Women's official website to learn more.

They're asking people to sponsor a table or purchase a ticket. If you would like to do that, you can contact them via email at hawlubbock@yahoo.com, or contact Esther Pena at (806) 543-3834.

Get your tickets now and help someone grow into a better life and allow them to get a college degree.
